Staff Pathologist, Fellowship Trained Cytopathologist

Subspecialty Focus: Cytopathology
The Opportunity:
Key Responsibilities:
· Interpret a mix of 20–30% cytology (including gynecologic, non-gynecologic, FNAs, and immediate evaluations) and 70% surgical pathology cases.
· Participate in call coverage (approximately 1 in 4 to 1 in 5 weeks).
· Take part in minimal clinical lab oversight, potentially assuming 1–2 medical directorships.
· Engage in mentorship and administrative leadership opportunities, including succession planning.
· Perform immediate FNA evaluations, though no procedural responsibilities or autopsies are required.
· Be flexible to take on evolving responsibilities and willing to adapt as the practice grows.
Work Schedule and Environment:
· Standard four-day workweek, with flexibility for a fifth day as needed.
· Typical hours: 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional extension to 6 PM.
· Six weeks of paid time off to start, with the potential to increase to eight weeks.
· No grossing responsibilities; all handled by pathology assistants.
Candidate Qualifications:
· Required: Fellowship training in cytopathology.
· Preferred: Additional interest or training in breast and gynecologic pathology.
· Ideal experience: 0–3 years post-training; new graduates encouraged to apply.
· Must be open to mentorship, team-oriented, and comfortable with change.

· Most physicians commute from western suburbs (e.g., Homer Glen, Lockport, Oakbrook, Hinsdale), with a typical drive of 25–30 minutes.
· The surrounding communities offer excellent schools, family-friendly amenities, and easy access to downtown Chicago.
